Sully Guitars is a one man shop owned by Jon Sullivan, based out of Dallas, Texas. Sully builds high performance instruments that incorporate modern features (stainless steel frets, compound radius fretboards, improved ergonomics), and offers designs that straddle the line between the traditional and something fresh.
Everything is made with the player in mind. Sully strongly believes that the guitar should look great, play great, and sound great, but when you pick it up, it should get out of your way.
Like many of the best creations, Paoletti Guitars grew out of a strong understanding of the past and an artist’s active imagination for the future. Based in Tuscany, Italy, where from the end of the 19th century the Paoletti family once produced Chianti red wine, much of that thirst has been past down to Fabrizio Paoletti. In the spirit of paying reverence to the past and at the same time making the best use of the materials at hand, Paoletti began to make use of the ancient wine barrels left from the old family business. With many of these being made of 130-170 year old chestnut wood, it was soon realised that this gave the instruments a unique and impressive sound.
"This is the story behind my Wine Series instruments, today offered as Stratospheric, Nancy, LP, SG, V, DC and Skybass design. Visually the instruments are a mixture of the old and the new, with the Loft series replicating the chipped paint jobs of well-worn rock’n’roll guitars"
Patrick James Eggle
In the Early nineties Patrick ran guitar production at the Company in Coventry, England which bore his name. In 1994 he parted company and has been working and trading independently ever since, living and working in both the UK and the USA.
Over the decades Patrick has gained a reputation for designing and building some of the finest guitars in the world, some of which have been owned by icons such as Toni Iommi, Albert Lee and Rory Gallagher to name a very few. His instruments feature regularly in world press and his opinions and expertise are saught out by institutions such as the BBC... He is a popular speaker at guitar exhibitions and music shows.
Now husband and father of two, these days, he works with a small team of craftsmen, producing a limited number of both electric and flat top acoustic guitars from his bespoke workshop in Oswestry.
There are guitars, and then there are works of art. During his tenure as head of the Private Stock department at PRS, Joe Knaggs helped push their models firmly into the latter category. In 2009 he partnered with marketing/branding guru Peter Wolf to form Knaggs Guitars, a small team of builders and luthiers who are blazing new ground in the world of hand-made, boutique guitars.Joe hand selects tonewoods for their natural resonant frequencies in addition to their aesthetic value. This combination creates what many consider to be the very best guitars in the world today.
